Ica Iova is a skilled author who makes her characters feel very real. “Boundaries” is her second book and as soon as I finished it I downloaded “She Never Got To Say Goodbye.”

First off I admit, I was predisposed to like Boundaries because it was set in Vancouver, British Columbia—the most beautiful city in the province I live in. But once I started to read I got drawn into Gabriela Parson and Landon Godchild’s world and to be honest I forgot about the beautiful city that I know because it ultimately took me to the darker, seedy side of it.

Can you imagine what it would be like to be Gabriela, landing the job of her dreams in a prestigious law firm, determined to prove her worth—only to discover that her handsome, sexy boss, is a man that she’d had a blurry one night stand with years ago.  Not only did she not recognise him at first, but how shocking to discover that he clearly remembers her.  And he wants to pick up where they left off!

Iova clearly portrayed Gabriela’s struggle with herself. To become intimately involved with her boss is against her rules, her principles and is also a certain route to professional suicide. But Landon does everything he can to persuade her to bend her rules.

But this book becomes so much more than a simple romance when Gabriela starts to dig deeper into the case that she is working on with Langdon and suspicion and doubts arise about Jack Richwood and her boss.

Her best friend, Bianca Miller, and Gabriela start to “investigate” on their own and find themselves in unimagined danger. I found myself reading anxiously, hoping that somehow they would be found before it was too late.

Highly recommended!

For those of us, who have loved and lost, who have closed their hearts off to the possibility of new love so that we not are hurt again, this book is for you. If you long for a nice romance story that seems real and not far fetched, then this book is for you. The quirky choice of name for your main character here (frank as a girls name?) was a bit distracting but in the end not terribly so.
Frank and Colt are two people who have been through the “happily ever after” and are not looking for that hurt again so when their feelings for each other collide they are too bull headed to see how good they would be for each other in the long run. Since this is a romance it has a happy ending, although there is a little surprise (or two) thrown in there and it doesn’t feel like its just one more romance. I was able to emphasize with both characters, although I wanted to shake them out of their stubbornness on more than one occasion.
It was a fast and nice feel good book for me.

The Second Time Around, Book One of The Belanger Creek Ranch Series tells a truly Canadian story about ranching, cattle, romance, tough choices and taking chances. The characters that come to life on the pages are people that you feel like you know from somewhere–or wish you did. Readers meet -continue reading…>

Second Chance at the Sugar Shack: A Sugar Shack Novel A witty, sexy small town romance: Candis Terry has created wonderful, believable characters in this story set in  Deer Lick Montana, a small town in rural America. I thoroughly enjoyed this book–a wonderful story of a spunky heroine, a hunky hero, abandoned love and second chances. Kate Silverthorne had left home 10 years ago, without telling -continue reading…>

I totally LOVED this book. Lacey and Rawley Lovett secured a place in my heart in the first book (Copperhead), and I continued to love them through the second (Copperhead Strikes). Skeletons moves ahead in time. Ten years of love and sharing their family has deepened the relationship between the feisty former bounty hunter and her husband. But the fire is still there when she has to defend those that she loves.

And Hannah is a replica of her mother!! OMG—what a handful she is. I loved her and I just had to smile at the way Rawley handled his two fiery redheaded females. And it was wonderful to see Bill and Cotton as an integral part of the family.

Douglas is a master story teller. As I read I felt like I had had been transported back in time to White River, Wyoming in 1888. I felt Ezra Shemwell’s anticipation while he waited for his new bride to arrive. And I felt his heart shrivel when Beth Hudson revealed her true self. And I was grateful for her son, Ben. I had to chuckle many times about the liaison that he and Hannah formed and the antics they got up to.

When Joe Kannon and his terrible gang came back to town I knew there was going to be trouble. But who could have guessed that he would kidnap all the school kids! Little could the bad guys have imagined the trouble they had landed themselves in when they ended up with Hannah and Cotton Lovett in that group. As the book progressed I worried for everyone, Lacy and Rawley, the other parents in the town, the children as they were transported by their captors—but I chuckled at how Hannah and Cotton and Ben instigated to disrupt Joe Kannon’s plans.

And once again, even when Rawley tried to protect Lacey by shutting her out of the chase, she proved that she still was feisty and had the temper and determination to carry her through!

I am a big fan of Kathleen Ball’s writing—I believe I have read all of her books. Cinder’s Bride was a change of genre for her. It is a historical western romance novel set in post civil war Texas.

I will confess that at first I had a bit of difficulty relating to the shift in her writing, but there was a great deal about the book that I liked.

I found Shannon McMurphy’s character to be believable, and I could sympathize with her insecurities and understand where she came from. She had made the choice to risk travelling to an area that she knew nothing about, to become a wife to man she didn’t know, in hope of having a better life than she would have had before.  That took guts.  When she realized that the man who sent for her had not been honest about himself or his intentions, she refused to marry him. That took guts. To punish her for refusing him, he left his mark on her… one that she would see every time she looked in the mirror. He thought she would bow to him, but she didn’t.

Cinder was a kind man and in good conscience he could not leave Shannon at John Hardy’s mercy. Since it seemed the only answer, he married her and took her to his ranch.  But he is a man who is dealing with his own demons, and they are reflected in how he communicates with Shannon.

Thank God for Cookie, who became Shannon’s staunch ally.

Life in those times was very different than today—I think the author did a good job of portraying how it was. And no matter what decade people live in they are still human beings and have all the emotions that come with being a person.  Their culture and past experiences will affect how they react, but they still fear, love, hate, get angry, make mistakes (yes I realise that’s not an emotion), feel insecure, worry…and yes they have sex.

There were a few editing errors. But overall I liked the book and recommend it to anyone who likes historical western romances.

Love is a tangle, before it becomes a Tango!

Claire Chatfield, once an ugly duckling, has become a swan…but she doesn’t realise it. She is still caught in her personal images from the past and is amazed when David Lawson-the only son of a wealthy family becomes interested in her. But as time goes by he becomes more deeply involved in his work at the family business that he hopes to one day run, and he spends less time with Claire even though he still insists that he loves her.

She meets Alec Brunell, her upstairs neighbour, when his loud music disturbs her Saturday morning sleep-in and she goes up to his apartment to tell him off.  Inspite of her anger and indignation, she is attracted to him, but she pushes the idea away reminding herself that she is in love with David.

Her discontent grows as David neglects her, but then he shows up with a diamond that is so big it is blinding to look at, and Clare reassures herself that their relationship is sound. Little does she understand the motivation behind his marriage proposal.

As the story unfolds we learn what David Lawson is all about.  We see Claire struggle with the reality of their relationship and watch her find her way.

This is a good book—there are twists and turns in the plot that I hadn’t anticipated when I started reading the book. All the characters are very human—even the ones I didn’t like could be recognised as being a realist part of a mix in society.

This book runs through a gamut of emotions: joy, excitement, confusion, betrayal, despair, painful choices, determination, and new beginnings.

I recommend it as a relaxing get away from your daily stresses.

Lets go back to the ranch, this is Shauna Lee’s story  and Brad’s story . Shauna Lee has been through hell and back and at eighteen she has recreated herself and became a success , but she isn’t the marrying type until Brad Johnson walked into her life . Now will she realize that she is the woman he wants and will she find her true self in time to realize that they can have it all.
I was so excited to see that book two started right where book one ended. Gloria has entwined the characters from book one in with Shauna Lee’s story. The story is very poignant and actually heart breaking . The author weaves such a masterful tale and add so much more depth to the characters . We see them at work, play and more real life situations. We see them falling in love and suffering heart break. To see them come out the other side happier and healthier
I am in love with these characters . Each book I read I fall more in love with them . They remind me of people in the community. They are so well written and complex .  Shauna Lee is the type of woman that other women don’t like and men flock around . She is a career woman who loves to have fun but as we read we find out that there is so much more to Shauna Lee then meets the eye. We find out that there is some hidden dark secrets and hurts that she is hiding . As you read you will see Shauna Lee change and become the woman she was meant to be. She is a very strong but vulnerable character . One moment you want to shake her and yell at her to get her life together and the next moment you are crying with her and wrapping her up in a hug .

When you meet Brad you will want to be with him , he is yummy to the core, but he is also the type of guy you don’t want to play with. He is a gentleman but also doesn’t play games . He knows what he wants and will go after it . He isn’t into one night stands, he is the guy you want to take home to the parents . He is also very protective and wants to be everything to that one woman. He could make you go weak in the knees with just one smile. Oh and ladies when he is wanting you , he doesn’t take no for an answer.

The rest of the gang are also here , Frank , Colt , the twins Ollie and Ellie . You see a romance blossoming between those two as the story rolls along too. Gloria did a great job in bringing back all the characters and letting their stories be told as a compliment to Shauna Lee’s story.
Like I said in my review of book one , I have fallen in love with these books and am so happy that they are taking place in the same province where I live . It is great to read about places I have visited and know. The author takes us on such a journey with some great twists and turns . I love how she talks about depression and how they deal . Also how she handled the fears of Shauna Lee and how she closed herself off . These are great books that are based in Saskatchewan and they are written with care and love.

Gloria is one of my favorite authors, I can’t wait to read more about the ranch and what is going on . So if you want a story that has such well developed characters and real life situations, heart aches and triumphs, this is the series for you.  You can read FULL CIRCLE  as a stand alone but I suggest that you read SECOND CHANCE  and then FULL CIRCLE .You won’t be disappointed .

Refreshing romance where men are real gentlemen
By Cold Coffee Press on August 22, 2015
Verified Purchase
Full Circle by Gloria Antypowich is book two of The Belanger Creek Ranch Series. I was delighted to discover that book two continues where book one (The Second Time Around) left off. Book two adds more well defined characters that not only tie both books together, but move ahead with real life situations that involve work, play, past, present, family, friendship, love, hate, romance and genuine passion for life and fulfilling relationships.

Once again Author Gloria Antypowich masterfully brings her own life experiences into her creative writing process to draw her readers into the story line tugging at their heart and mind revealing their own memories whether good or bad. I find that these first two books, especially Full Circle has a short dedication that played over and over in my mind while I lived vicariously through her characters.

In my reviews I always quote at least one passage to show the writer’s style and intent I am very careful not to spoil the story for you the reader. I quote from page 154 (in my copy) as Shauna Lee and Brad enjoy a leisurely horseback ride.

They took the horses out through the gate at the back of the horse pasture and followed the trail to the gently rolling fields. They rode in companionable silence, enjoying the crisp, fresh air and the serenity of being away from everything else.
Shauna Lee sat astride her horse and threw her arms wide open, embracing the world. “I love this: total solitude, no sounds of traffic, no telephones, and no computers!” She turned to smile at him, happiness overflowing.
“I know what you mean. I get that same feeling when I go hunting in the mountains. Dad and I ride way off the beaten track. You feel like no else has ever been there. The mountains are so majestic, the air so clean and the scenery so spectacular. It’s like being transported into a totally different world. For two weeks, we become different people. I always think we become the people we really are meant to be. Life is simple, with no outside pressures. It recharges my batteries. One day I’d like to take you with me.”
Shauna Lee shook her head. “I couldn’t go hunting.”
Brad looked out over the fields. “Shauna, man has been a hunter for centuries. Dad and I always use the meat we take. How can I explain it to you? For us, it’s almost a spiritual thing; being so close to nature, to the creator.”

Come experience life, love, sorrow, forgiveness and a genuine hero spirit. Experience romance where men are real men and even the most liberal women have to stop to appreciate this lost art of gentlemanly behavior. After coming Full Circle move into The Hand of Fate, book three of the Belanger Creek Ranch Series.

Cold Coffee Press Endorses Full Circle (Belanger Creek Ranch Book 2) by Gloria Antypowich as a Contemporary Adult Romance inspired by her husband (they are both retired) who is the love of her life. Author’s NOTE: this book and the rest of the series is available on Amazon.com

and at Smashwords

On GoodReads this morning!
Also featured at http://bookstocurlupwiith.blogspot.com I am beyond thrilled. NOTE: apparently this gal lives in southern saskatchewan–that makes me feel even happier–Thank You to Patricia Stratham ! She loved the book.

Ok I fell in love with this book by just the cover alone . As I started to read , I got sucked into the story of second chances and falling in love. Set on a cattle ranch in South Western Saskatchewan . Where two broken souls come together , with misunderstandings and broken hearts . They find each other but will they survive and find their way back to each other .

Lets just say this , this book will make you laugh and cry and then laugh some more . The characters are so well written and complex. She writes such strong female characters . They are independent and not conceited at all. Frank fits that ideal to a tee. She is strong independent but doesn’t realize what kind of reaction she has over the men in her life . She has this inner spark that can’t be blown out. She has had hardships and is suffering from depression from the tragedy . But she doesn’t wallow and heads out to a new adventure. As she works at the ranch she grows stronger and we see the true Frank come out . The strong woman, with a tender side . She knows when to go after what she wants and knows when to step back when things aren’t going right . Even though it might mean heart break again. She is a fighter and fighting she does . Colt is the man she fights with. This man is hot and sexy and quite the alpha man , but also has the sweet sensitive side. He is there to help his family when they need him . But he is also holding onto a bunch of hurt . He is tough but tender and will protect what is his . He is the type of guy you want in your corner and take home to your mom . But like most men he jumps to conclusions and has a temper and he admits when he is wrong .

The supporting cast of characters are so fun to read . I won’t go into details but Ollie is my all time favorite characters, he like the comic relief / father figure to both the main characters . You really feel for the position he is put in and you can see he really wants to knock some heads together.

I absolutely fell in love with this book , like I said she has based the story on a ranch in South Western Saskatchewan. In the Cypress hills near Maple Creek and Swift Current . She paints a great picture of what Saskatchewan is about . The story blends right into the area and flows so well . I started reading it in the morning and finished in a day . I couldn’t put it down . I loved the characters and the story . I actually shed some tears and laughed a lot while reading this book. As soon as I finished book one I started book two. I just had to know what happened . I also like that the author brought the characters back in book two. I like to know what happens to them as you read . But they don’t take away from what is happening in the rest of the books . I adore this set of books for so many reasons . But most of all that they are great books written with such a passion and a love . So if you want a sweet contemporary romance with a cowboy flair . This is the series for you . So check them out. Colt and Frank will sweep you off your feet
